Description
1865 Letter from Vienna (Feb. 19/Mar. 3, 1865) to Zante (Feb. 23/Mar. 7, 1865) via Trieste and Kerkyra. Insufficiently franked with 5 kreuzer (red François-Joseph) instead of 25 kreuzer. Taxed at the arrival at 70 lepta,written on blue pencil, complementary payment to the regular rate of 85 lepta (5 kreuzer = 15 lepta) according to the 1867 convention between Greece and Austria. Black postmark “AFF. INSUFF.” for “Insufficiently paid”. Red wax seal on the back. The three stamps are from the “cleaned plates” printings (1868/1869). The 10 lepta is faulty.
