Description
1865 Letter from Pireas (Jun. 22/Jul. 3, 1865) to Genova (Jun. 28/Jul. 10, 1865) via Messina, franked at 112 lepta for a letter up to 10 grams transported by French boats according to the convention of 1861 between Greece and Italy.
Black maritime postmark “PIROSCAFI POSTALI FRANCESI” for “French Postal Boats”.
Black postmark “ΠΕΔ” or “ΠΛΙΡΩΜΕΝΟΝ ΕΞΟΤΕΡΙΚΟΝ ΔΗΚΕΩΜΑ” for “Foreign Paid to Destination”.
The stamps are from the consecutive Athens printings (1862/1867) and with good to large margins except the 2 lepta with one narrow margin. The 80 lepta has the plate flaw of the “cercle mince”. Catalogue ref: Hellas 16a/18e/19a/22a
