Description
1862 Unpaid letter from Constantinople (Oct. 6, 1862) to Syros (Oct. 7, 1862) taxed at 80 lepta, written on red pencil, with a 80 lepta of the consecutive Athens printings (1862/1867) with orange “control numbers”.
The 80 lepta tax is corresponding to a letter from 10 to 15 grams (triple rate) carried by the Austrian Lloyd paquebots according to the 1867 convention between Greece and Austria and the circulaire n° 9 of April 10, 1868 between Greece and the Austrian boats company Lloyd for the Austrian Levant offices.
