The Robert Hisey eight-frame gold medal-winning collection is beautifully mounted and expertly written up on 128 pages, with the collector’s knowledge in the stamps printing methods reflected throughout.

The collection aims to show the development of the Ship’s design over its 27-year life as it went through large and small changes in the many printings in the 31 basic stamps.

The eight frames are ordered chronologically or by theme starting with Typograph Issues, Darmstadt Trials, Roto Issues, Wider Hyphen, Suid-Afrika hyphenated, Gutter widened Issue, Screened Issues, Hard horizon on left, plus coils, booklets, stationery, consular, customs and foreign usages.

These Ship Issues are shown in practically every possible facet with some of the hightlights being the unique Waterlow die proof in issued colours, plate proofs, 1926-27 1d mint tete-beche pair (SG 31ea, £1500), 1d imperf on three sides in vertical pair (SG 31b, £1’100), 1932 1d mint pair showing vignette omitted, cert. RPS (SG 43ewa, £1800), 1938 2s6d booklets (SG SB13-14, £2400), plus unique booklet pane with Specimen ovpt, the rest of the collections shows proofs in singles and blocks, mint and used, with blocks and larger multiples, perf. variations, plate flaws, watermark varieties, postal history with an extensive array of usages from printed matter, single frankings, airmail, registered, censored, official and revenue usages, parcels cards and some rare and unique high frankings.
