Lot 61334 – 1861 PORT ELIZABETH to CRADOCKThe local mail with 4d

1861 (Mar 8) wrapper from Port Elizabeth to Cradock with Woodblock 4d pale grey-blue tied by Large Triangular Obliterator, mixed margins, reverse with despatch and arrival ds, a scarce usage as these stamps were printed locally for less than 3 months; cert. David Brandon (2022).

Note: The date of use (8 March 1861) confirms this stamp being from the one of the first two deliveries of the 4d Woodblocks either on the 23rd or 26th February 1861. This and the other Woodblock cover in this auction both have the same dispatch date and cancel from the same PO but they went to different destinations.
