1860 Cape Town to Scotland, small format envelope franked with Perkins Bacon 6d deep rose-lilac paying the regular single rate for an overseas ship letter, cancelled by small triangular obliterator. Manuscript 5 in red crayon showing the onward rate payment to the steamer for package delivery. Black Circular DAVENPORT CAPE PACKET …AU 60 receiving cancel at Davenport. Reverse with red circular dispatch handstamp and Aberdeen arrival. Tough to accurately calculate the ship time as dates are not clearly visible on the handstamps but it took over a month to travel from Cape town to Scotland inferring from dispatch in August and delivery in Sept 1860 (S.G. £1’200).
