1855 (May 8) wrapper from Port Elizabeth to Cradock with 4d postage paid by a block of four 1d brick red on deeply blued paper, mixed margins, tied by triangular obliterator with arrival oval ds adjacent, reverse with despatch ds. A scarce multiple on cover; ex Guy Dillaway and Richard Johnson.
Note: The general rule was that the sending date handstamp should be in red ink and receiving in black. On this cover the postmaster mistakenly used black ink on the sending handstamp of PORT ELIZABETH which should have been in red.
