1826 (13.10) Folded letter sheet from Llankelly to Newry, rated “Pd1/6”, the letter was then refused by the recipient and a REFUSED handstamp in red was applied, redirected and charged the original fee of “1/6” deleted and recharged “2/-“, very fine and the unique example in red
Note: The Post Office notice of December 1792 gave authority to charge the sender for two separate journeys if on delivery to the original address, the recipient refused to pay and the letter was redirected
