All these 5 Ruble proofs probably come from the Tsar Nicholas II collection sold at R.Lowe 1935 lot 16, described as “ 5 roubles: One of the most handsome designs in an amazing range of sixty-nine die proofs SHOWING SIX DIFFERENT STATES OF THE PRELIMINARY DIE AND TWENTY-SIX STATES OF THE FINAL DIE. NO OTHER SERIES OF LINE-ENGRAVED DIE PROOFS OF MORE THAN TEN DIFFERENT STATES IS KNOWN OF ANY STAMP IN THE WORLD”
1913 Romanov Tercentenary 5 Ruble frame only, state 1, die proof in sepia on card, without the names of designer and engraver beneath the picture, pencil “11” on reverse. Possibly from the Tsar collection published in the Yamschik-Post Rider 1983, No 12 page 15.
