Description

1844 (7.3) Folded entire from Cairo via Alexandria to Montpellier, France, postmarked ALEXANDRIE / EGYPTE / 7 MARS 1844 circular datestamp, the letter was carried from Cairo to Alexandria by POSTA EUROPEA (Type I, applied on the 12th day of use) and handstamped AGENCIA DELLA POSTA EUROPEA IN CAIRO, letter stamped with framed PAQUEBOTS DE LA MÉDITERRANÉE, backstamped MARSEILLE / 23 MARS 1844 and MONTPELLIER / 24 MARS 44. The letter was disinfected in Malta with slits and stamped PURIFIÉ AU LAZARET / MALTE, very fine & scarce disinfected usage
