Lot 60099 – Strengberg – Lower Austria (Niederösterreich). 1850 9kr (2) + 6kr on registered mail with advise of delivery to Belgium
Strengberg. 1850 9kr two clear to large margined examples, tied by two-line datestamp on 1st July 1856 large registered envelope to Brussels with advise of delivery, showing “Recomandirt”, “Chargé” and “P.D.” markings alongside in red, with 6kr on reverse and tied by “RECOM:” straight line, which also cancels the franking on front, with Linz, Breslau and Brussels backstamps, a very rare AR registered mail to Belgium; Müller 2736a + 3711a, 40pts + 72pts.
Note: “1 4/10 l” (loth) manuscript notation on front, and “f4” weiterfranko on back (4Sgr), both denoting a double rate. The rest of the franking to pay the double rate -as encountered in other instances- was applied on the advise of receipt form, this additional service being used as confirmed by the endorsement “per Rezepise” on front of the cover.
