1939-46 Portrait Issues collection assembled by the collector showing the picture of His Highness Maharwal Laxman Singh, with mint incl. 1/4a Orange-Yellow perf.10 1/2 (SG9c, perf. fault), 1/2a Vermillion die I perf.10 1/2 and III (SG10b and 10d, both superb), 1a Deep Blue perf.10 1/2 (SG11b, superb), 1a3p Bright mauve perf.10 1/2 (SG12a, interleaving adhered to reverse), 1 1/2a Deep violet printed on gummed side (SG13var, previously unrecorded, small tear at top and slight thinning), 2a Bright Green (SG14, light vertical gum bend), 4a Brown perf.10 (SG15b) as well as 1/2a Vermillion se-tenant pair (SG10ca). Believed to be the finest set acquired from the Maharaja himself. Then covers incl. two State service combination covers bearing the portrait issues perf 10,10.6,10.9,11.8; two private covers bearing combination frankings showing registered letter rate and double letter rate. Two covers showing late usage of the first issue (arms issue) combination frankings showing examples of single rate and double rate letters. Including the book written by the collector on his Dungarpur Collection. An extremely rare accumulation on four pages (SG £ 44’000++ not including the price for SG13 printed on gummed side unrecorded variety).
