Lot 85483 – Ionian Islands 1815 Santa Maura to Corfu cover
1809-15 British Military Occupation: 1815 (22 March) entire written in Italian to Corfu bearing good strike of the large green ISOLA DI SANTA MAURA double-ring handstamp. This Island had been taken from the French in April 1810 and Corfu, the last island to fall, surrendered June 1814 before the Second Treaty of Paris in Nov 1815, a scarce cover arriving during the British Military Occupation.
