Lot 70044 – 1864 (Fe 13) a stunning valentines envelope used locally
1864 (Feb 13) a stunning valentines envelope used locally in Glasgow, with applied flowers and foliage and a brass ring “delivered” by a dove, bearing 1d. red, neatly tied by duplex numeral cancel, also original lace enclosure, depicting prospective hand, quite spectacular and easily one of the finest early valentines known. Ex Alcock and illustrated in colour in “The Valentine and its Origins” by Frank Staff.
