Lot 20793 – 1872: DDSG 10k green on cover from Rustzuk to Galati, taxed on arrival
1872: DDSG 10k green, perf. 9½, a used example with toning on edges and normal perf faults, on cover sent on 11/11/1872 from Rustschuk (now Ruse in Bulgaria) to Galati, where it was taxed ’20’ bani on arrival 12/11. The stamp is cancelled by RUSTZUK 6/XI” cds (Tchilinghirian fig. 916) in blue. The Romanian post considered that the letter was unfranked as the DDSG was a private company, and taxed it double the domestic letter rate of 10 bani. The item has some toning and a file fold through the stamp, but an uncommon taxed cover.
