Austrian Field Post in Romania (Levant): 1856 Crimean War, Austrian occupation in Wallachia (Craiova). 1850 3kr pair with clear to large margins together with a choice 9kr blue, on 27.11.1856 civil cover to Vienna, tied by very fine strikes of “K.K.ÖST.F.P. KRAJOVA” Field Post Office cds (Tchilinghirian Fig. 735), via Temesvar (Timisoara, 30.11) and arrival Wien 3.12. Some horizontal file folds clear of the adhesives and hinges on reverse, on this splendid exhibition quality cover featuring a rare combination franking with this postmark; Müller 3444a, 375pts.
