French Post: 1872, Envelope from St Thomas to New York, franked with France strip of three Bordeaux Y&T n°48 40c orange with anchor cancellations, superb margins and bright shade, St Thomas 09.11.1872 departure and New York 22 November arrival, with “FORWARDED BY / C.W. SMITH & Co. / ST THOMAS W.I.” oval forwarding agent cachet, an extremely rare use of the stamps from the Bordeaux issue in this Danish trading post in the Antilles. 1872, Lettre de St Thomas (Danish West Indies) pour New-York, affranchissement à 1f20 avec une bande de 3 timbres Bordeaux Y&T n°48 40c orange oblitération ancre, marges superbes et nuance vive, cachet de départ de St Thomas du 09.11.1872, et cachet d’arrivée à New-York du 22 novembre, rarissime utilisation des timbres de l’émission de Bordeaux dans ce comptoir danois des Antilles.
