1881 (19 Jan.) a magnificent day book archive page bearing imperforate examples in the selected colours of the 4d. 6d., 3/-, 10/-, £1 except the £5 which is in blue, each overprinted “SPECIMEN” (Type 8) with text at top ” Specimens of the New Telegraph Stamps/ In all cases, except the £5 duty, the selected colour is the one shown. In the case of the £5 duty the colour is to be vermillion” (Later printed in orange) with “Vermillion” written above the £5, and “approved ” alongside; a major exhibition showpiece of the highest calibre. Unique in private hands.
