Description
1899 (Nov 9) Eighteen composite colour trials were submitted with heads printed in doubly-fugitive inks, green or purple, for security purposes. The frames were printed in colours either new or in use already.
A stunning set of nine 1s trials mounted on cards numbered 1-9 and dated “9 NOV. 99” with the heads in doubly-fugitive purple; a superb and extremely rare exhibition showpiece set. (S.G. £112’500).
