Description

1840 1d black, MA, Pl. 11, a superb used example with huge margins on three sides and a good sized margin at foot, neatly cancelled by a fine strike of the incredibly rare blue Maltese Cross, an exhibition showpiece for the connoisseur; cert. RPS (2000) (Although now unpriced in the Specialised catalogue, the nearest comparable rarity factor on this plate is the red Maltese cross at £25’000).
