Description
1844 (Jun 8) large part entire to Kirkwell, bearing 1840 1d black pl.7 EF (cut into at top) and 1843 1d red-brown pl.39 RG, each neatly cancelled by a fine and upright strike of the black Maltese cross, additionally tied by blue manuscript, the reverse showing framed Stromness and Kirkwall date stamps; a very rare mixed franking; cert. BPA (1993).
