1901 (1 May) embossed head head design (possibly a photographic reduction of a medallion in plaster) mounted on thick card (90 x 115mm.) marked “1st May 1901″ at upper right; scarce.
In an extract from the De La Rue records:
This is a photographic reduction of the medallion prepared by Emil Fuchs, of which the original was approved and initialled by the king, sent to the Secretary, Inland Revenue to show the size required for the embossed stamps. The neck is to be slightly reduced in width.
