1885 Hand painted original essay for the first issue revenue stamps of 1887, Thomas de la Rue & Co. of London, 2pi, green, on very thin transparent paper against white cardboard background, with production notes to design and dating “Dec. 18 85”. Very fine and attractive essay with the iconic Sphinx and pyramid design.
