Lot 42008 – 1886 (4th July) Gibraltar 1d postal stationery

1886 (Jul 4) Gibraltar 1d postal stationery card ovpt. GIBRALTAR cancelled “A26” with Gibraltar cds alongside, on reverse manuscript Rabat. The message describes the new courier service of the Gibraltar PO (opened in May 1886) established between the Barbary coastal ports and Gibraltar. This is the earliest known postal cancel originating from any of the Moroccan Agencies apart from Tangier.
