1882-90, 1 s. pale violet, a fine single used example on 1890 OHMS envelope sent registered from the Nevis Post Office to Dresden, tied by “A09” obliterator with NEVIS despatch cds at left (Aug 26). Oval ‘R’ in at left and ‘Registered / London’ transit on front (Sept 11) in red. Reverse with Dresden arrival cds (Sept 12). File folds far away from franking but an immensely rare usage on commercial letter: this cover mentioned in RL Encyclopaedia on page 119. According to the Borromeo and Freeland Nevis handbook (2014) only two covers with the 1s key plate type are recorded (S.G. £3’000 on cover).
