1861 (AU 3) outer letter sheet to France franked 5c. and 10c. tied single San Francisco cds, paying rate to Bordeaux, judged to be overweight and struck with red framed SHORT PAID handstamp, routed via New York where 18c handstamp applied, the previous red New York cancel overstruck with red grill, arriving in France on 17 Aug; faults to paper where name and town partly erased Auction
