Description
1858 Moldavia 27 Parale, black on dull rose horizontally laid paper; a fresh example with good to very large margins, cancelled by a clear fragment of JASSY MOLDOVA 1/8 postmark in blue. The postmark date (1 August) is the earliest recorded usage of the first stamp of Romania, with only one earlier date (29 July) recorded on a 54 parale value. The stamp is in very fine condition. A unique and major exhibition item. Unrecorded by Heimbüchler; signed Thier; cert. Behr (2000) and Cherata AIEP (2025).
