Lot 30774 – Italian Post Offices in Peking 1917 surcharge inverted cover

1917 (19.10.) registered cover to Ancona franked 2c on 5c strip of three and pair 6c on 15c., the right-hand stamp with inverted surcharge tied P.R. Poste Italiane Pechino Chine cds, registration handstamp at left, censor tape at right tied by framed handstamp, reverse with some damage to censor label, Bologna Posta Estera entry cds, Fabriano and Ganga arrival; a little roughly opened at left, remaining a fine and rare item and Dr Avi Cert (2023) states is the only known letter franked with such a surcharge error pair.
