1849 (Aug 8) wrapper from Stuttgart to France with 1849-50 20c (3 margins, horiz. crease) applied in the hope of pre-paying the French part of the postage, with red “PD.” oval handstamp and red despatch which has been overstruck by Tour transit, reverse with Paris transit and Bordeaux arrival, a very spectacular and attractive cover showing the usage of a foreign postage stamp in Württemberg before the issue of their own stamps in 1851 and several months before the introduction of stamp in Germany, a great exhibition item and ideal for the introduction page; signed Calves.
