Lot 30155 – 1938 Transition of the Austrian Post to the German
1938 Transition of the Austrian Post to the German Reichspost: An attractively presented and thoughtfully written-up collection spanning over 47 album pages, illustrating the postal transition following the 1938 Anschluss. The collection is particularly strong in postal history, comprising predominantly covers and cards with Austrian, German, and mixed frankings. Many items display colourful combinations and feature a variety of decorative and illustrated cancellations, adding significant visual and historical appeal. A scarce and unusual assembly, offering excellent insight into this short but complex transitional period. Comprising 49 covers, together with a small number of stamps and fragments. A highly interesting and desirable lot; ex Stewart Gardiner.
Additional scans and images are being uploaded on a continuous basis, and the complete set of illustrations for all lots will be available by 1 June 2026.
