France: 1856 – Montreal to Cognac via Cunard “Canada”

Stampless entire letter from Montreal, 2 June 1856, struck with red MONTREAL PAID JU 21 1856 CANADA and oblique red PAID. Rated 1s 4d sterling / 1s 8d Canadian currency, with the ½d not noted. Carried by Cunard “Canada” from Boston 4 June via Liverpool and London to Cognac (18 June). Red French PD in circle applied on arrival.
