Entire letter from Montreal 24/12/1852, initially erroneously taxed 1s 2d. sterling for a letter to Great Britain, this rate crossed out. Carried by Cunard “Africa” from New York 29/12/1852 to Liverpool 9/1/1853, then onward to France. French marking ETATS-UNIS.PAQ.BRIT. B.A. CALAIS 11 JANV.53 with correct 17 Decimes charge applied.
