FRANCE: 1851 Montreal to Cognac – Double Letter via Cunard
Entire letter from Montreal 12/9/1851, carried by Cunard “America” via Boston 15/9, Liverpool 26/9, then London to Paris, arriving Cognac 29/9. Red “CANADA &c. ART. 12” marking, taxed 34 décimes for a double letter. The internal Canadian “3” rate was crossed out; 24 décimes went to Great Britain and 10 décimes to France.
