Stampless envelope with red MONTREAL CANADA PAID AU 18 1856 circular datestamp, endorsed with red “8d.Stg.PAID 10d Cy.” of Montreal, carried on Cunard “Asia” via New York to London, very fine
Note: Cunard resumed normal sailings from New York on 6 February 1856, reinstating the standard 10d Canadian currency transatlantic rate.
