1851 6d Brown-Purple on Laid Paper – Montreal to New York
Cover bearing 6d brown-purple on laid paper, fine to very good margins, tied by concentric circles from Montreal L.C., 23 Dec 1854, with red “PAID” handstamp and “6” in circle (cancelled by concentric circles handstamp) indicating postage to New York.
A fine example of early Canadian-to-U.S. correspondence, showing the proper use of Canadian postage on cross-border mail.
