Horizontal pair of 3d brown-red, 1st printing on thin wove (non-laid) paper, Pane B, positions 26 & 27, close to large margins, tied by concentric circles on wrapper (sideflap loose at right) from London, 24 July 1853, with red “CANADA Paid 10 Cts.” handstamp and blue SUSPENSION BRIDGE, 26 JY New York exchange office single-circle backstamp, addressed to New York.
A rare example of Canadian cross-border mail showing both domestic and U.S. transit markings, with the early usage of wove paper stamps.
