1852–57 3d Brown-Red on Thin Wove – Early Printing via Overland Route to St. John
3d brown-red on thin wove paper, Position 37, Pane B, from the 1st printing on wove paper (3rd printing following the laid paper issues), four good margins, tied by concentric circles on wrapper from the Bank of North America, Montreal, 11 May 1853, via Quebec and Woodstock (backstamps), carried overland to St. John, arriving 18 May, very fine and a scarce usage.
Note: The overland route was slow and difficult, normally requiring about eight days in summer and nine days in winter.
