7½d deep yellow-green with traces of re-entry, large margins with a portion of the adjoining stamp visible at bottom, tied by “37” numeral on cover from Quebec, 2 July 1859, carried on Allan “Anglo-Saxon” via Liverpool (11 July) to Manchester, then re-addressed to Glasgow with 1d charged in manuscript for re-direction on arrival, cover flap missing.
An outstanding item of the highest quality in colour, impression and margins.
The 7½d rate via Canadian Line was valid from May 1856. This cover is notable as an early usage from the Decimal Period.
