Description

1852–57 ½d. Rose on Newspaper Wrapper

Horizontal pair of ½d rose, clear to good margins, affixed on the Globe (Toronto) newspaper dated 15 January 1858, tied by “13” numeral cancellation of Galt, addressed to Dundas.

Illustrates the ½d newspaper rate for items mailed by individuals over 3 oz, effective 1 August 1857, and is illustrated in Arfken. A highly desirable usage due to the horizontal pair and clear numerals.
