1851 ½d Deep Rose on Masthead of The Globe
½d deep rose, vertically ribbed paper, with large to very large margins, affixed on the masthead of The Globe (Toronto, 12 June 1858), tied by “13” numeral cancellation of Galt, addressed to Dundas. The newspaper also shows a “1” handstamp, possibly indicating an additional charge for two further newspapers included in the mailing.
One of only two recorded covers with 1/2d on vertically ribbed paper.

Illustrated in Arfken and Gems of Canadian Philately, a highly desirable usage on a newspaper masthead with clear postal markings.
