1852–57 3d Orange-Red on Cover to USA
3d orange-red on thick hard wove paper, good to very large margins, tied by Toronto grid on envelope dated 2 October 1858, with red PAID handstamp, addressed to Yellow Springs, Ohio.
Pays the 6d U.S. letter rate, valid from 1 July 1851. The cover is addressed to J. B. Hunter, later a Major in the Union Army during the American Civil War, adding historical interest to this cross-border correspondence.
