Lot 60001 – 1871–1893 Specialised Collection of Early Afghan Issues:
1871–1893 Specialised Collection of Early Afghan Issues: An attractive and partly specialised collection of early Afghan philately, meticulously assembled and elegantly presented across eighty-six album pages. This fine holding offers depth and visual appeal, with a particular strength in the iconic “Tiger Head” issues of the early 1870s, progressing through to the smaller-format Tiger Heads of 1877–78. The collection further includes a comprehensive representation of the later circular and rectangular issues, providing a well-rounded overview of this fascinating and complex period of Afghan postal history. Both unused and used examples are generously featured, offering collectors and researchers valuable comparative material. Noteworthy for its diversity, the collection includes a wide range of multiples with pairs, strips, and larger blocks of four, six, ten, and twelve, alongside an appealing variety of shades. Also present are a number of useful and desirable covers, adding postal history interest and context. Carefully curated with study in mind, this is a rewarding and substantial collection that will appeal to both the specialist and the advancing collector. It offers significant scope for further research, expansion, and refinement (100s).
