1916-17 “FEE PAID” of Mecca: After the Ottomans had been defeated, these were used until the Hejaz postage stamps were ready and during later shortages, bilingual type, unframed with horizontal lines and numbered in manuscript (Uexkull Type E), on postcard to Algeria with “MEKKE 3” datestamp of 30.9.16 (recorded from October) and on a cover to Jeddah with an unrecorded similar type mark from March 1917 but with smaller letters, a very rare pair
