Lot 20241 – First Moldavia Revenue stamp on document
1850 (9.1) Jassy: The first Moldavian revenue stamp (Timbru Domnesc 20 Parale) applied to a complete two pages document written in a combination of Romanian and Cyrillic, dated January 9, 1850. Second page of the document also contains a crystal-clear ovoid stamp reading “*The United Principalities* The Ministry of the foreign Affairs of Moldavia” the writing surrounds the emblem of Modavia (a shield with the Byson head on it and a crown atop of the shield; the shield is flanked by two fish whose heads almost join underneath their heads; futher down (the year) 1858., unusual & scarce
