Lot 20130 – Bull’s Head 54pa used on cover
54 Parale, blue on greenish blue horizontally laid paper, fresh vibrant colour, large to very large all round, neatly tied by superb clear JASSY 7/8 cds in blue, on 1858 folded entire to the Theologo Brothers in Galatz, attractive and very scarce
Route and rate: The cover circulated on the postal route no. 1 (“Drumul Mare”) from the capital city of Jassy to the largest city on the Danube River, Galatz. The 54 parale being the usual franking for such a route: postal zone 2 (more than 8 “poste” – approx. 12.5km.) and the 1st weight category (up to 2.5 “dramuri” – approx. 8 gr.), manuscript Andrew’s cross on the front it as pre-paid status.
Expertise: cert. A. Roumet (2007), Heimbuchler (2007) states– “…in perfect condition, without repair. The clear postmark JASSY 7/8 is an early date. Only two letters of the first issue with this date are recorded”,
