1901 Boer War cover with two original letters from a soldier writing to his mother about his pastimes in South Africa which seems to be playing football, tennis, cricket and riding every day: “Tomorrow we are going to play football again. The Bde Staff this time take the field against the officers of the Yorkshire Regt…it was the most amusing game I think I have ever played – half our side had never played before”, franked with GB 1881 1d lilac tied by Barberton Army P.O. cds
