Gupta Empire, Narasimhagupta, c. 495-530, AV dinar, 9.44 g. (21 mm). Obverse: ‘archer’ type; king with stacked, flat curls and rim diadem wearing tailed tunic over pleated loin cloth, standing left, sash with vestiges of the knot tying it at side, holding arrow in right hand, left hand holding bow at top; behind to left, Garuda standard; gre or gu in Brahmi between feet; Nara in Brahmi below king’s arm. Reverse: Lakshmi seated facing with legs flat on lotus seat with heavy pleating to her hip cloth, holding diadem and long-stemmed lotus left, tamgha to left, Brahmi legend to right valaditya. Kumar, TOTGE 2024, Class I, variety A. Raven, NSG/group 3.
