Gupta Empire, Chandragupta II, c. 380-413, AV dinar, 7.78 g. (17 mm). Obverse: ‘chhatra’ type; king wearing loin cloth and long string with beads, standing left, sacrificing on a fire, attendant at right holding parasol (chhatra) over the king with left leg raised up, circular Brahmi legend around. Reverse: Lakshmi with hair tied into a bun standing left, holding long-stemmed lotus flower in her left hand, and diadem in right, a long scarf draped around her arm, with tamgha to left and Brahmi legend to right, vikkramadityah. Kumar, TOTGE 2024, Class I, variety C2. Raven, CG2/group 7.
VF, well-defined features and a high relief on both sides with moderate wear. Coins in this type are always small and weigh c. 7.80 g.
