Lot 468 – FRANCOISE GILOT, DESSIN
FRANCOISE GILOT (1921-2023). Dessin à l’encre bleue représentant un visage féminin vu de face et de profil. 11,5 x 8,9 cm, signé en bas à droite. Le dessin, exécuté sur un carton blanc, est ici fixé sur un carton gris, sur lequel a été collé une photographie issue d’un journal et représentant François Gilot suivie par Picasso qui tient dans ses mains un parasol pour la protéger.
Françoise Gilot, artiste peintre, fut la compagne de Picasso entre 1944 et 1953. Elle eu deux enfants avec lui, Claude et Paloma. Picasso la surnommait “la Femme qui dit non”.

The drawing, executed on white cardboard, is here mounted on gray cardboard, on which a newspaper photograph of François Gilot has been pasted, followed by Picasso, who is holding a parasol to protect her.
Françoise Gilot, a painter, was Picasso’s companion from 1944 to 1953. She had two children with him, Claude and Paloma. Picasso nicknamed her “la Femme qui dit non” (“the woman who says no”).
