Description

Gupta Empire, Skandagupta, c. 455-467, AV dinar, 8.47 g. (19 mm). Obverse: ‘king and Lakshmi’ type, king standing left, looking right, holding longbow, Lakshmi (?) standing right and looking left, offering an object to the king, Garuda standard in center, circular Brahmi legend around. Reverse: Lakshmi seated facing, holding diadem and long-stemmed lotus, Brahmi legend to right, Sri Skandaguptah. Extremely rare.
